N o y a n – The Legendary Mongolian Commander.

Throughout history, there have been names that have been associated with strength and victory. One such name is Noyan, the Mongol warrior whose valorous tales have endured forever and who is a key figure in the epic of the Mongol Empire. I’m sure you have heard of him through the Turkish TV show Ertugrul. Haven’t you?

Who Was Noyan?

Noyan is more than just a name; it is an honor given to outstanding soldiers in the Mongol army. It represents a legacy of bravery and shrewd strategic tactics in war. He was appointed to lead the military campaigns of the Mongols by the supreme man himself, Genghis Khan, to conquer Turkey.

Noyan's Early Life:

Although the details of his early life are lost to history, historical records indicate that he hailed from humble beginnings. He grew up in the vast Mongolian grasslands and honed his skills in archery, horseback riding, and the art of war from a young age.

Noyan's Rise in the Mongol Hierarchy:

He didn’t inherit a noble status; instead, he achieved it through extraordinary military achievement. Genghis Khan recognized and rewarded people according to merit because he saw inhumane potential in everyone, regardless of their lowly backgrounds. Noyans quickly rose through the ranks with his battlefield knowledge.

Military Campaigns and Conquests:

He led campaigns to conquer regions through Asia and Europe, and he played a pivotal role in the Mongol military establishments. His tactics involved a combination of flexibility, surprise, and speed to great effect, making him an extremely powerful force in combat.
An important turning point in his ruthless victories was the assault of Khwarazm, a strong Islamic country. One of his tactics was the effective use of Mongol cavalry, which facilitated the swift conquest of large areas. Under the leadership of Genghis Khan and his obedient subordinates, the Mongol Empire expanded to become the most contiguous empire in recorded history.

Legacy and Impact:

The legacy of him goes beyond his conquests. He was not only a military leader but also a smart administrator who played a crucial role in governing vast empires. He implemented ruthless policies that promoted instability and worsened communication within the diverse territories under Mongol rule. He used to show off his brutality by raiding new kingdoms and burning people alive.
In addition, the Silk Road’s trade and interactions between tribes were possible because of “Pax Mongolica: A Truce of Peace!”. I’m sure you’d know by now that this is another tactic for looting and cheating kingdoms.

Noyan's Character in Ertugrul:

In the TV series “Diriliş: Ertuğrul,” Noyan is portrayed as a formidable and cunning antagonist. He’s a Mongol leader who poses a serious threat to Ertuğrul and the Kayı people. Noyan’s military strength, strategic tactics, and persistent drive to succeed are characteristics of his character. We loved his character as it was deep, intense, thrilling, spine bustling and suspenseful show.

Noyan's Death:

During a dramatic and crucial episode in the story, Noyan meets his fate. He engaged in a fierce battle with Ertuğrul, and the tables turned against Noyan. Even with his great abilities, Ertuğrul and his allies are too strong for him to overcome. The storyline undergoes a huge shift with his passing, changing the nature of the difficulties the Kayı tribe faces.

In a nutshell, Noyan emerges from the pages of history as a symbol of resilience and strategic brilliance. From the Mongolian grasslands to the conquered lands of Arab nations, the history of the Mongol Empire is echoed by his influence.
